The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #39 Review

CONSENSUS: Amazing Spider-man Annual #39 is an entertaining story, but one with a slightly clumsy script and mediocre art. While many Spider-Man veterans didn't care for this story, if you're new to the Marvel Universe you might find some enjoyment in this stand-alone tale, that's unlikely to have ramifications in any other books. NOT required reading.

Unleash the Fanboy: "Solid emotional nuances, consistently good art, and a compelling but goofy story make this issue a highly recommended read." 90

Science Fiction: "In the end, there's a moral to this time jumping tale that I won't ruin in case you're planning on picking it up, but I will warn you...the last three pages might just bring a little tear to your eye." 80

Comic Vine: "If you're looking for a good stand alone story that delves into who peter Parker/Spider-Man is, you definitely need to check this out." 80

Multiversity Comics: 80

IGN: "All told, this actually isn't a bad issue to hand a new reader curious about the current status quo of Spider-Man and his world. At $4 for 40+ pages, it's certainly a better value than most books the Big Two put out. Still, the script never reaches its true dramatic potential, and that's a shame." 65

iFanboy: "Meh... Time travel story: nothing new. Obligatory thread of seeing Uncle Ben-heartstrings pulled: been done." 60

Major Spoilers: "Had the story been more consistent (or more suspenseful), this issue might have knocked it out the park..." 50

X-Man's Comic Blog: "I could have really done without reading this comic." 20
